Our winter market is in full swing!! Fresh veggies, fruit, baked goods, and eggs (while hens are still laying) are available both to our CSA members and the general public. We look forward to seeing you!
Winter market is on Saturday morning, 9:30 to 12:30 at Chesapeake City Park. There will be no market December 26. We expect to have product available until February 7th or 14th.
Those CSA members who have emergencies and are unable to pick up during normal hours, please contact Amy to arrange a drop off at Experience Olives and Grapes.
Like us on facebook to see what you can expect at market each week.
Not familiar with some of your new veggies or looking for fresh ideas on what to make? We have a searchable recipe index here on the site! Search by category or by typing a veggie in the right hand search bar.
Finally, as of this writing we still have a handful of CSA spots for Spring/Summer 2016. If you've been thinking about joining a CSA to get fresh, local, healthy food for your family each week, now is the time! When they are gone, they're gone.
Have a great holiday season, and we will see you at the Market!
Review by Teresa Knecht
I spent last Sunday afternoon at Experience Olives & Grapes Fusti Bar being thoroughly entertained by our friends at Farm Chicks. These 3 ladies worked as one well-oiled machine to present cooking techniques for the often passed-over winter vegetables.
So many of us (myself included) are sometimes at a loss as we peer into that winter CSA basket full of roots and greens. "What am I supposed to do with this? Eat it??" The answer is YES! This class covered 16 different, simple preparations to do just that. (All the recipes are shared below. Click "Read More" and follow the links.)
In addition to the cooking demonstration, we were allowed to see into the relationship between these family members. Laughter and humorous anecdotes abounded. And I now have the knowledge that Amy's husband Tom will add hot dogs to his serving of her potato soup. Everytime.
Here's a little snapshot. I call this one, "Maddy's Puff Pancakes and Michelle is not Donald Duck."
(You might have to turn it up, I didn't have an external microphone.)
