- 2 slices bacon or 2 tbs. butter
- 1 onion
- 1/4 cup red wine vinegar
- 1/4 cup red wine
- 1 tbs. red jam like a raspberry or strawberry
- 1 tbs. sugar
- 1 red cabbage, cut in half, core removed and sliced thin
- 1 apple, cored and chopped.
- Salt and pepper to taste
In a large sauté pan cook bacon for about two minutes and then add onion, cook until soft, about 5 minutes.
Add red wine, vinegar, sugar, jelly, cabbage and apple. Stir well to combine everything.
Cover and cook on low for about 20 minutes until cabbage is tender.
Remove cover and continue cooking until most of the liquid has evaporated.
Keep warm until you are ready to eat!
